Belmont Soccer Association is a community youth soccer organization for children who live or go to school in Belmont, run entirely by volunteer coaches. It is large — more than 1,400 kids per season, including 500–600 in the travel program — and covers grades K–12 (the former K–2 'Belmont Second Soccer' has merged in). Programs include travel soccer for grades 3–8 (Boston Area Youth Soccer league, with A/B/C teams by level), In-Town recreational leagues for K–8, high school BAYS travel teams for grades 9–12 (Sunday afternoon 7v7 games), and soccer clinics throughout the year. Fall and spring seasons register separately; the fall 2026 travel season runs September 12 to November 14. K–2 games are Saturday mornings at Winn-Brook Elementary School fields.
Belmont Youth Baseball/Softball (BYBS) is a parent-volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving Belmont youth baseball and softball. Baseball (ages 5–15): in-town recreational leagues (Single A, Minors, Majors); spring travel for ages 9–12 (grades 3–6, Friday-evening games against nearby towns such as Lexington, Wellesley, and Weston, early April to early June, with winter workouts in late February–March at Belmont High School's gym); Babe Ruth for ages 13–15 (grades 7–9) in the Arlington-managed league (April through the end of the school year, with preseason tryouts; summer Babe Ruth in the Lou Tompkins league, ages 13–18). Summer options also include the Middlesex League (9U/10U), the Bay State League (the most competitive travel option, weekend games), an 11U/12U Watertown 50/70 program, and a skills-only summer program at Grove Street. Softball (K–9th grade): 6U in-town (K & 1st), 8U/10U travel in the CityTown League (Arlington, Belmont, Cambridge, Charlestown, Medford, Somerville, Waltham, Watertown, Winchester), and competitive 12U/14U; spring season runs April to mid-June, and no tryouts are required for softball. Main fields: Grove Street Park (120 Grosvenor St — main baseball complex, 3 fields); Chenery Middle School (95 Washington St — main softball location, offline for renovations starting spring 2026, locations TBD); Concord Ave softball field (365 Concord Ave — also under renovation in spring 2026).
The Belmont Aquatic Team (BAT) is a year-round competitive swim team and registered USA Swimming club (member of New England Swimming), with about 75 swimmers (a 2017 figure, for reference only). It is based at Belmont High School (221 Concord Ave) and run independently — not a town program. Training and competition run year-round in two seasons: short course (September to mid-March) and long course (mid-March to July). Age groups run from an entry-level 10-and-under group up to championship-level 15–18 swimmers. The 2026–27 short-course meet calendar runs October 2026 to March 2027, wrapping up with the NE Cup (March 12–14, 2027).

Founded in 1975, Belmont Youth Hockey (BYHA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to building character in Belmont youth through ice hockey. It is run by a volunteer board with 50+ volunteer coaches and belongs to Mass Hockey's District 9 and USA Hockey, serving ages 5–19. The travel program fields 15 teams in the Valley Hockey League and 7 in the Middlesex Yankee Conference. Belmont has no indoor rink; home ice is John A. The Belmont Dolphins Swim Team is the Belmont Recreation Department's competitive swim team — a town-run program, not an independent club — for ages 8–18, training and competing at the indoor Higginbottom Pool. Note: it is not affiliated with Underwood Pool, and it is a separate organization from the independently run Belmont Aquatic Team (BAT). The season runs October 19, 2026 to March 7, 2027: two practices per week, five dual/tri meets, plus a championship meet (March 6–7, 2027); parents contribute volunteer hours. Tryouts are for new swimmers only (returning swimmers don't re-try-out); coaches look for technique and potential, not speed. Compared with BAT, the Dolphins are a town program with a moderate commitment (twice a week, local meets, October–March season), while BAT is a year-round USA Swimming club with intensive training (up to five days a week) in the New England Swimming championship circuit.
