Founded in 1975, Belmont Youth Hockey (BYHA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to building character in Belmont youth through ice hockey. It is run by a volunteer board with 50+ volunteer coaches and belongs to Mass Hockey's District 9 and USA Hockey, serving ages 5β19.
The 'Mini Marauder' developmental path has three levels: Learn to Skate (ages 8 and under), Learn to Play (ages 5β8, twice a week, $900), and Mite C (ages 6β8, $1,200, including Sunday cross-ice games against Winchester and Melrose). The travel program fields 15 teams in the Valley Hockey League and 7 in the Middlesex Yankee Conference. Belmont has no indoor rink; home ice is John A. Ryan Arena in Watertown (1 Paramount Place, Watertown), and Mite C Sunday games are at Flynn Rink in Medford.
The club's site does not publish a fixed annual registration-open date. Travel placement registration usually runs in spring (2025 placements closed April 17). Registration for 2026β27 Learn to Skate is currently open, and developmental seasons start in mid-September.
